We are big fans of St Padre Pio. It started when my daughter Kelly picked up the little monk statue at a bookstore. She started reading books about him and he became one of our favorite family patron Saints. We even made a St Padre Pio Wooden Painted Saint.
Triumph of the Cross: September 14
Tomorrow is the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross!
When Jesus’ Body was removed, the Cross was hidden so that followers would not find it. About 300 years later the True Cross was found!
Sounds like the ultimate Treasure Hunt…check out our idea for a Treasure Hunt at the end of this post!

The Pilgrim’s Guide to Rome
Well, as I announced a few weeks ago…I have a real live sponsor sending me to ROME! aaack!! Who knew that blogging could be THIS much fun!?
Now although I agree that Divine Mercy Sunday is the PERFECT day for the canonization of our beloved Bl. Pope John Paul 2, JP2 being responsible for establishing this huge and awesome devotion in our Catholic Church, the Canonization Pilgrimage of April 25-May 2, 2014 presents a more-difficult-than-usual time for me to get away. While we are still discerning whether or not we should cancel a few things and I should attend…I think the more likely ETA for me in Rome is October 2014!
Easy-Sew Saints
Are you afraid of SEWING?
I know it can be intimidating, especially if you insist on doing everything perfectly. Although my grade 8 Home Ec teacher would probably have a little bit of a fit if she looked at the underside of most of my sewing projects, I’m quite satisfied with what I have accomplished by sewing!
Sacred Seasons Liturgical Calendar
I’m excited about this product because I really like Illuminated Ink’s coloring pages and the idea of an organization folder for the Liturgical Calendar.
Illuminated Ink’s Sacred Seasons Liturgical Calendar comes with blank calendar templates for each season along with Illuminated Ink‘s classic (but new, improved and expanded!) saint symbol stickers, informative Season explanations and awesome coloring pages.
Can YOU find SAINTS?
A few months ago, I was the WINNER of this awesome book over at Contemplative Homeschool, thanks to Connie and Catholic Family Gifts.
The truth is that I was hoping to get my hands on Can You Find Saints? after seeing it at a few Catholic conferences. It’s a great book!
Mary Crafts
Mother Mary certainly sees our trials and challenges. She is the ultimate model of motherhood with her prayerful, gentle way to cope with life’s adventures. Perhaps if we pray more incessantly for her guidance and her intercession, we can better follow her example bringing more peace and Faith into our homes.
Mary Mosaic for the Garden
August is a special month for Mary, with the Feast of the Assumption on August 15th and the Queenship of Mary on August 22.
We have a special little Mary garden in our backyard and Adam still insists on visiting the statue of Mary and giving her a hug…almost every day!
