St Joseph was humble, pure, gentle and wise, protecting the Holy Family. He walked by Faith, taking Mary as his wife and guiding and protecting the Baby Jesus, heeding the instructions from the Angel of the Lord.  It is believed that Joseph died peacefully in the Arms of Jesus and Mary.

St. Patrick  was taken to Ireland as a slave and his faith grew.  He escaped, went home to Britain, became a priest and then bishop.  He returned to Ireland, preaching and converting many people, using the shamrock to explain the Trinity. St. Agatha’s Feast Day is February 5.  She was a young Christian who refused to marry or break her vow of chastity. The young suitor Quintian had her arrested, imprisoned and tortured in the hope of changing her mind and she responded “Jesus Christ, Lord of all, you see my heart, you know my desires. Possess all that I am. I am your sheep: make me worthy to overcome the devil.”

February 5th is the Feast Day of St. Veronica!

St. Veronica is mentioned in the 6th Station of the Cross. She came to Jesus as He carried the cross and she wiped His Face. Miraculously an imprint of His Holy Face was left on the linen.

Feast Day Fun: St Brigid

February 1st  is the Feast Day of St Brigid of Ireland

St. Brigid was born daughter to a chieftain and a slave woman, and brought up by a druid. Her life was marked by miracles from an early age which impressed the king of Leinster, who granted her her freedom. She became a religious and founded a monastery over the fires of a pagan shrine at Kildare, and developed into a cathedral city of culture and learning. She and her friend St. Patrick, are regarded as the Pillars of the Irish people. (from SaintNook)

January 21 is the Feast Day of St Agnes

St Agnes refused marriage at the age of 13, dedicating herself to Jesus and she was martyred for her Faith.  She is known for the virtue of Purity and her symbol is the lamb. She is the patron of young girls.

Feast Day Fun: St Brother Andre

January 6th is the Feast Day of St Brother André.

Chronic stomach pain had made it difficult for St André to hold a job. At 25, he could not read or write.  He was deeply devoted to God and to St Joseph and insisted on building a shrine.  He quietly greeted visitors as a lay brother of the Congregation of the Holy Cross and people began to seek prayer from him. St André gave the credit for all of the resulting physical healings to the intercession of St Joseph.  In 1924, construction began for St Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal, QC, alongside the chapel built on St André’s insistence.
